Reuben James and Friends Deliver Yet Another Summertime Composition, ‘Closer’

 Evan Dale // June 14, 2021

Aside from a couple of EP’s – 2019 introductory Adore and 2020’s Nicholas Littlemore collaboration, Cinema Sounds 1 – The UK’s Reuben James is still really in the process of introducing himself. But he’s damn committed to it. A wave of six singles dating back to last Summer’s anthemic My Line – which folded in the sounds of Col3trane, Jay Prince, Vula, and Soweta Kinch – have left his jazz-strewn mark on us, all begging for more. And now, we have exactly that.

Closer is – per Reuben James’ love for collaboration – another fluid composition of the many. Jay Prince, Sophie Faith, and CARRTOONS all lend their groovy hands to the Summertime single, building out the perfect tune to soundtrack everything from a backyard kickback to a rooftop hang. As long as the vibes are positive, Closer should be playing. And as long as it’s playing, we’re going to need some more Reuben James to vibe too soon.
